Seoul Lantern Festival

Seoul Lantern Festival, originally uploaded by Ichigomani.

Not only did the Seoul Lantern Festival kick off today, it’s also Peppero Day. For those of you who don’t know what Peppero Day is, I’ll explain. It’s basically a day when people give each other chocolate covered sticks, called “Peppero.” Usually school kids give them to each other and their teachers, but the tradition has spread and now adults buy them for their friends/ partners as well. I recieved several boxes of Peppero today from my students and I decided to nibble on some while observing the display at the Lantern Festival.
Cheonggyecheon was bursting with colours from all the beautiful lanterns. A concert was held by the river, which included performances by Rain, Wondergirls, Ivy and many more.
Seats were available for people who pre-registered on-line, but I managed to convince a tourism official to let me in the guest area. I was quite proud of my accomplishment. It was a wonderful way to spend the evening.
